Galaxy Far Away
It’s obvious where the inspiration for this Lego camp came from. Galaxy Far Away is jam-packed with models that will blast off any kid’s imagination! Kids can build 3D models of their favorite Star Wars characters, as well as motorized models from everyone’s favorite intergalactic movie series.
MindStorms
Build with the newest technology with the introduction of LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 Robotics. Program commands directly into the intelligent brick using the latest generation motors, and sensors. Beginners can start by trying to move an object with a robotic claw or build a robot that responds to color. Those with a bit more experience can advance to more complicated sensors and code. With an unlimited list of builds, this is robotics at its best.
Junior Robotics
Fancy turning your Lego creations into robots that you can program? With Junior Robotics you can do just that, enjoy the fun of building a creation and then add on the challenge of coding as well. Using drag-and-drop LEGO® WeDo® software, this fun 2-day Lego camp sees Day 1 as an introduction to the world of computer programming & robotics. Day 2 is all about a deep dive into Motions & Tilt sensors in a more challenging workshop.
Mining & Crafting
Go inside the world of Minecraft with this creative holiday LEGO® camp. Experience the world of MineCraft® with LEGO® in this creative school holiday program! Start by crafting a shelter, using traditional bricks.
Brick City
Kids will put their building and engineering skills to the test as they build a Lego city in this fun Lego camp. Build custom-designed cars, buildings and children will put their engineering and architecture skills to work as they build city-themed models using LEGO® Bricks. They’ll have a blast using custom-built cars to move the people of the city all around town – brick by brick! What an accomplishment to be able to proudly exclaim “We built this BRICK City!”
Jurassic Brick Park
Build a Jurassic Park inspired world filled with Velociraptors, T Rex, or another favorite dinosaur. Learn about dinosaurs that lived in the Jurassic and other marine and extinct species that roamed the earth millions of years ago!
What goes on at Lego Camp with BRICKS 4 KIDZ®
Children work and play in small groups with an assortment of cool BRICKS 4 KIDZ® models to build with LEGO®, games, and other activities that center around fun themes, and of course lots of LEGO® Bricks for creative building. At all of our workshops, we’ll use LEGO® Technic pieces such as gears, axles, electric motors, and more! Our Robotics programs are designed to allow children to play while they learn about programming concepts. They’ll learn new things and have heaps of fun too!
Why book into a Lego Camp with BRICKS 4 KIDZ®
“Rather than pushing children to think like adults, we might do better to remember that they are great learners and to try harder to be more like them.” Seymour Papert (1928-2016) LEGO® Professor of Learning Research MIT Media Lab. Play is the way that children learn to adapt and through which new skills develop. “It is what prepares us for emergence, and keeps us open to serendipity, to new opportunities.” Brown Stuart: “Play”, Avery, 2009.
There are many benefits of learning through play. Play gives children a fun way to interact with the world around them and make sense of what they see. Play gives children the ability to explore and experiment, to redo and finally succeed in their endeavors. Lego play, in particular, is an outside-the-box creative hands-on learning experience where there are no limitations to what can be created. Children who play with Lego have the chance to build something new, to perfect what they have built, to reinvent again and again. This enables them to think critically in every new creation they make. With Lego, kids are constantly trying to solve problems. That’s why playing with Lego has been proven to strengthen the brain in problem-solving skills, enabling the brain to get used to thinking and decision making becomes easier. It develops what is called hand knowledge, which is where new connections are created in the brain through the act of building physical things, with your hands. This essentially develops a deeper understanding of what is possible in the world.
When building with Lego kids are “thinking with their hands”. And the hands are the way that the brain develops its understanding of the world. In the words of researchers from the now-discontinued Imagination Lab Foundation: “One of the roles of the hand is to shape how we think. If we move our hands or make gestures to help us think, we can assume that using LEGO materials to construct physical representations of ideas, concepts, and models of strategy might generate new content.” Roos, J., Victor, B., and Statler, M., 2003.
As you can see, playing with Lego is great for brain development, promotes great skills like problem-solving and mathematical solutions, and is also crazy fun! Playing in groups like at our Lego camps can also benefit social interaction. So don’t miss out and book your little creator into a Lego camp next holidays!
