Taking sailing lessons in Sydney at the RPAYC is a great way to get kids out on the water learning a new fun activity. With the many waterways around Sydney Harbour this is an excellent city for those interested in taking up sailing.
Sailing is a versatile sport that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age. It can be a competitive adrenaline fuelled sport or slower paced way to enjoy some time on the water on the weekend.
Whatever the way you intend to enjoy sailing it is one of the most satisfying and enjoyable activities any child can partake in.
Instructors at RPAYC are all Australian Sailing (AS) accredited who adhere to the national syllabus. Courses are delivered by accredited instructors following a national syllabus.

The holiday program focuses on introducing the basic skills of sailing through an array of sailing activities. Weather on the day plays a large part in deciding how to customise the days activities.

Some sailing lesson activities included as part of the holiday program:

Sailing on small Opti dinghies

A small single handed sailing dinghy, the Optimist or “Opti” is perfect for use by kids up to the age of 15.

Hobie Wave catamarans

This is a recreational and easy to sail vessel that is perfect for beginner sailers and young people to learn on. It’s simple setup and easy of sailing make it exciting and forgiving enough for an enjoyable experience.

Keelboats ( with an instructor)

One of the most popular dinghies for learning to sail, these have more space and stability than the smaller dinghies like the Optimist.

School Holiday Sailing lessons, Sydney – Program details

The program runs for 4 days and each day is divided into a morning and an afternoon session with a lunch break in between. The day begins with a safety briefing by the qualified sailing instructors. Our program is not separated into levels so the whole group works together throughout the 4 days. It’s a great way to join friends of all ages and experiences.
